What is the name of your state? TN but accident was in CA

My 7 year old son suffered a skull fracture at a neighbors house. We are expecting a large settlement to pay medical bills and such.

How do these type of settlements usually get structured?
What expenses should I be keeping track of? Does driving to doctors count?
It looks from other threads as if the money will go into a fund for my son. Do the courts usually seperate the funds into different catagories that can be spent differently?
Medical, reimbursement of other costs, continuing care, pain and suffering, etc.

My son is having memory problems and I want to make sure that he can go to a school that will take good care of him. Will I be able to spend some of the money on private education? Note: The public school says that they cannot give him any special services because he is not yet falling behind. He is a genious and these problems are speratic. He's still ahead but needs more attention than others students.

He is also having behavior problems since the accident and needs a way to get out his energy. Will I be able to spend some of the money on activities for him such as a sports or maybe Karate to promote discipline and memory etc. Or maybe something for him at home?

Thanks!

If you are doing this without an attorney, you are an idiot.

If you are doing this with an attorney, you should direct these quetions to them.

Sorry. We have an attorney but I thought she was just for the initial case not for the things that come after. I will call her. Thanks.
