Security Officer refusing to say why?

What is the name of your state? Florida

I was offered a job with a government contractor contingent upon the successful acquisition of a security clearance through DSS (Defense Security Service). I had a start date, signed offer letter, everything was in place and running smoothly. I don't have anything on my background that can prevent me from having a security clearance. The secret clearance was DENIED. The Security Officer doesn't want to tell me why the DSS denied the clearance. According to the Security Officer, the DSS doesn't provide an explanation. They just say "yes" or "no".

Questions:

1. What measures I have to take to find out why the clearance was not granted?
2. Can I fight this at court?
3. Which lawyer I should contact?
4. IS there a web site that list cases where the individual wins a case related to this because of negligence from a security officer or the DSS?

I worked for the NSA as a security analyst with a TOP SECRET clearence. And then I graduated from law school. And then I owned several businesses and now I'm sitting on my fat, rich ass answering dumb questions.

No one here is going to walk you through the legal process. Especially when you haven't paid a penny. So, go see your own attorney if you think you have any RIGHTS to know why.

Listen fool, you explain to me what RIGHT you have to any information about this refusal. You seem to think you know more than the two attorneys who answered you. Now is the time to either put up or shut up.

you think I need to prove myself to you? you're deluding yourself. If you can't get even the most rudimentary of security clearances then it's time to slip back under the fence.

Clearance Denial for No Known Reason?

This is a rather odd situation. If there is nothing that you know of in your history then it probably has something to do with an issue they found and you didn't state this on your SF-86 (knowingly or unknowingly - not sure if that matters). I hear lying or intentionally omitting significant information on an SF-86 is a big show stopper and will get you denied instantly.

I am waiting for my Interim Secret clearance descision - I will know in a few days.

From the research I have done it is usually something like credit or criminal charges in your history somewhere, and the denials are usually issued due to the severity of the issue (refusal to resolve financial delinquencies despite several warnings) or, more often, a combination of several issues (Bankruptcy in 2004 and a drug related arrest in 2005).

There IS in fact a website that documents cases for security clearance grants/denials and it is listed by year going back about 10 years or so. The Page starts off as:

INDUSTRIAL SECURITY CLEARANCE DECISIONS
These decisions pertain to the adjudication of security clearance cases for contractor personnel under DoD Directive 5220.6, which implements Executive Order 10865.

They are then listed by year:

2006
2005
2004

... and so on.

It didn't help me much, as I am waiting on an Interim Secret Clearance and these are final clearance and review descisions.
