What is the name of your state? IN

My 14yr. old child is in special education. A substitute teacher had asked my daughter some very specific questions regarding my family. My oldest son moved back in with me, my 2nd oldest was in some legal trouble, my divorce and so on. The questions were specifically designed to extract answers from my daughter. After getting the information that she was looking for , she went to a gathering and spilled the story to several people, including my ex-husbands aunt and uncle, who had no knowledge of my 2 eldest sons situations. She then went to another gathering and told some friends (after she realized that they knew me) more stories of my situation. She had confronted my child on more than 1 occasion in school to receive knowledge of my family. She did tell one friend that she had purposely "pumped" My daughter for information. What can I do? I called her special education teacher and she was very unhappy about the situation, but can I do anything legally about it?What is the name of your state?

and tell them what? There is more to this story.
Tell them the rest of the story that she left out of her post. The OP is looking for some satisfaction with the substitute - either get her in trouble or get her away from the child. In either case, talking with the regular teacher will get nothing more than a sympathetic ear.

If she wants something done, she needs to take whatever facts she has to someone with more authority.

My eldest sons situation is not really important in the matter being it was nothing more serious than his fiance cheated with his boss and in the process he lost his job, his apartment and his fiance all in one day. The main reason for my request for information is the fact that his substitute teacher purposely directed questions to my 14 yr old daughter trying to gain information about my family that was really none of her business and then proceeded to tell everyone she could about the situation. I would think this would fall under some sort of invassion of privacy. She not only was passing this information around to a gathering of people I knew but she also took it upon herself to spread things around at basketball games and so forth. I would think it would be against school policy or something for her asking my daughter specific questions that she had no reason to know about being she isnt a school counselor and then proceeded to spread that private information around to everyone.
