What is the name of your state? Florida
I recently interviewed at a company in which 2 ex-coworkers are employed. One of the ex-coworkers had referred me.
Upon completing the interview I was given a verbal offer for the job and was told to expect a written offer by the end of the day.
Later that day, it turns out, the other ex-coworker found out I was hired. Upon finding out I was hired she began to argue with the person who hard referred me. She complained that she did not want me to work there and that we were not friends.
She made the statement that she had left the previous job because of me, and insinuated that I had done something terrible to her. She later complaind to the HR department of that company and I can only assume that she said the same thing.
The employer eventually retracted their offer.
It seems that her false statements were directly responsible for the retraction of the offer.
While I can strongly argue that her statement that she left because of me is false ( I can show that we were friends before, during and after she left ). I don't know if this is "enough" proof.
I'm also not sure if its worth persuing. The job had a higher salary so I could consider those damages.
What else would I need if I wanted to persue this? There is more information that I may be able to get.
Thanks,
Miguel
