I used to work for the cell phone company that bought cell one, in the collections department. If she did get the account suspended for a seasonal suspension, it is totally possible that she did not receive a bill either. The billing system used to print bills is the likely culprit.

I saw this happen a dozen times a day People who hadnt had service with us for YEARS calling in about bills that were wrong, charges that were inaccurate, fees that should have not been charged. Thousands of dollars in fraudulent, deceptive

Wireless companies commit serious fraud against their customers every day. It is uncharted territory, and needs legislation to control it. I would urge her not to pay this bill, and to contact her local better business bureau and register a complaint with the state a.g's office.

She has said all she needs to say to the phone company. I assure you that the better business bureau and the state attorney's office have enough complaints on the company that they will know just who to talk to to clear this up.

The good news is that many states are passing legislation re. wireless companies and their billing.

If you haven't told them IN WRITING that the phone was stolen and that you had asked for a permanent, not seasonal cancellation, then you need to do that ASAP. Don't plan on having the BBB or AG fix your problems for you - they are already quite busy with blatant scsammers and can't spend the needed time to clear up everybody's questionable cell phone bills.

Like I said, I worked for the cell phone company in question. A written notification to Cellular one/ rural cellular corp/unicel will do nothing. A seasonal suspension is something that is done for someone who lives part of the year in one part of the country. It is obvious that when she called to report her phone stolen, the wrong code was selected from the drop down menu. This happens all the time.

The only thing I find dubious is that the phone was used 6 months later. That means that whoever stole the phone hung onto it for six months and then suddenly started making calls.
