How is Child support calculated in Texas

My wifes daughter may be going to live with her dad. She is 14 yrs old. Currently my wife receives $184.00 every two weeks. My wife also receives SSI income for her and her daughter. My question is, if my step-daughter goes to live with her dad and we have to pay child support how will it be calculated? Will it be figured on my wifes SSI income or will it be calculated on mine and my wifes income combined?

If your wife's child is also receiving benefits, then your wife has SSDI rather than SSI.

If the child goes to live with her father, then her father will become the child's rep payee for the child's portion of the benefits. Generally, but not always, that benefit replaces child support. Therefore its likely that there won't be any other child support ordered.

If there is, your income should NOT be included in the calculation.

I thank you very much for the info. You have said that the SSDI benefit would take the place of child support. So that means that the benefit would continue if she goes to live with her dad. I was under the impression the benefit would stop for her since she would not be living with her mother.

The payments would continue, the checks would just go to dad instead of mom.
