package mis delivered

My daughter ordered something from EBay. The package was sent but apparently delivered to the wrong address. The seller did not send tracking information until after the package had been delivered and my daughter had not received it. My daughter could not know it was coming. The address where it was said to have been delivered (per the postman on the route) does not have any knowledge of the package.
What, if anything can be done? The item was for @300.00.

who was the package delivered through?

was the shipping information mis-labeled (IE: the seller sent it to the wrong address) or was it delivered to the wrong address by mistake of the package carriers?

did you get shipping insurance on the package?

did you contact the people at the address the package was delivered to?

The package was sent by usps.
The package was delivered to the wrong place - but the address on package was correct.
The tenants at the delivered address were contacted and denied any knowledge of the package.
The package did not have insurance - it was not offered by the seller on ebay at the time.
The postoffice was also contacted directly. They told us to contact the people at the location it was delivered to.

Get an affidavit from the USPS stating the package was delivered to an incorrect address then sue the folks that did get it.

And make sure you can prove they actually got it - shouldn't be hard because no one has ever had things stolen from their porch

USPS does not leave packages on the porch. My BIL is a USPS postmaster, he gave me the advice.

My mailman ALWAYS leaves packages on the door unless a signature is required. Not just the mailman that I currently have either. Every house I have EVER lived in, packages were left on the porch as well.

There may be some postal workers that don't leave packages as a personal rule, but there is no "official" against leaving a package that doesn't require a signature (I know this because I called to complain after a package that contained perishable items was left on my porch in the blazing Texas summer sun).

Ok, you need to do two things.

First, if you paid via PayPal, file a complaint through them.

Second, go to the post office and file a "Lost or Rifled Mail" form.
