Can a landlord raise the rent without written notice on an existing tenant? And if so, is there a limit as to how much? What is the name of your state? What is the name of your state?

Was notice given... and you are just splitting hairs or was no notice given?

Notice must be given. A landlord would be stupid to not give notice in writing. If the tenant is on a lease the rent cannot be raised until the end of the lease term, also with notice, unless the lease has provisions which allow for rent increases (notice still needed)

AZ does not have a rent control law.

I am a landlord, and i raised my tenants rent to be inline with the fair market value. I sent noticed to be affective at the end of the lease if they choose to stay after the end of the lease, and they were more than willing to sign another lease. I think if the rent increase is fair, and proper notice is given, most tenants are going to willing to pay the increase in rent. Just my humble opion and experience in the matter.
