Are you asking if a company is allowed to post that the area between here and here is a known speed trap? Sure, they can do that.

employee "a" leaves for lunch on the way they spot the trap...calls employee "b" still in office....emloyee "b" sends all-local email relaying info..

Caveman was happy not to find any speed traps on the freewayon the way there, if that helps.

I'm not sure why it would be thought to be illegal.

It's not the right forum, but you're already here, what the heck.

It's not illegal in the sense that a police officer is going to show up and arrest you. And it doesn't violate any employment laws.

However, whether it is "legal" or not, if your employer finds it to be an inappropriate use of company e-mail, you can be disciplined or fired for it, and the employer will be acting legally as well.
