uh...I have a disabled son, and child support does not continue on the ncp when that child becomes and adult. That child receives social security and SSI to help support his needs as a child. Plus the child recieves medicaid. I would like to see the law which states a ncp pays continually on a handicap child once that child reaches adult age. There are adult services and respite help which is paid for through medicaid. If the ncp wishes to keep paying child support that is their choice, not the governments. Faith

It might also be that mom never pursued therapies and programs that might someday provide semi-independence in the appropriate group setting. We have no idea, but sometimes families weren't doing their developmentally disabled kids a favor by keeping them home and making minimal to no demands of them. Has GF checked out any of Center for Independence type day programs for developmentally disabled adults? Has been an evaluation done in the past decade as to what degree of independence is achievable, based upon what is now being done?

I can't imagine putting one's sister in a home because they feel it's "time" for dad to take his turn.

Maybe I misspoke. Funerals don't cost $12k where I live. And I live near a large Jewish area. I have no idea where the "stupid" comment came from. I don't know what you're talking about.
We have a troll here, moburkes. BTW, I am only allowed to spend 6K on a funeral (per order of the court).

Ahhhhhhhhh, thanks!
You're very welcome. What no one also caught here was that there's no mention of a legal guardian, which would be the retarded adult's mother. The retarded adult would immediately be appointed another guardian (i.e. public guardian).

you've got nothing better to do than to offer criticism, what a surprise! my experience tells me that your criticism probably stems from your inability to handle any situation, probaby couldn't even handle a pimple, much less this, by the way what's your situation, care to elaborate?

To whom is this addressed?

What exactly are you asking? There is no legal way to force dad to take physical custody.

Hersister has been placed in a temporary facility while going to the program during the week. Who is now responsibile for the care of the retarded adult?

There are group homes and day treatment programs , as you have indicated take place .

If anything the State will seek support from the Parent .

Your girlfreind can do nothing as you do not have guardianship .

The placement would have been done by the guardian. The court would immediately appoint another one. This troll is not worth wasting our time on his fake threads.
