What is the name of your state? Mississippi

I work for a local ambulance service, private owned, in Jackson, Mississippi.

Call outs from work have became so excessive that the management team with the ambulance service has now made it mandatory that you bring a doctor's excuse with you when you return to work.

I absolutely REFUSE to go to the doctor when I have a bad headache or a simple case of diarrhea (that I can usually fix myself). When I am working on the ambulance and am trying to work on a patient, it's quite difficult to run to the bathroom when having a patient in the back of your ambulance.

Can they LEGALLY force you to bring a doctor's excuse in before allowing you to return to work? Who goes to the doctor for a headache?

Any advice? What is the name of your state?

Contact the doctor by phone and ask him to fax over a note. That's about your only option because this is a legal policy, excluding certain FMLA situations.

If your employer says this is required, then it is required. This is not a matter addressed by law.
