What is the name of your state? New York

A few days ago i decide to check out my recent visitor activities on my website . I've noticed a few of my music that i stream on my music player for myspace is actually being also streamed on Dizzler.com. The illegal use of my files on my server is using up the bandwidth for my server which i have to pay for. They never asked permission to stream these files yet they use it and do not give credit to where they are streaming it from. I've message them a few times and I am yet to get a responce.

These are a few Examples bellow at what i see in my recent visitor activity log

First, change the name and location on your webserver of your files.

Second, If you don't want them used in this manner by 3rd parties don't "publish" them. In other words don't provide direct links or references on any web pages anywhere (Search engines will pick it them up).

Third, contact your Web Host and see if they can place an ACL (A Block) placed on the IP of the website streaming your content.

First, change the name and location on your webserver of your files.
Better yet move your files and replace them with something else, like Barry Manilow, static, or an endless loop of "Dizzler is leeching my files without my permission", renamed to the same filenames that were being leeched.

Third, contact your Web Host and see if they can place an ACL (A Block) placed on the IP of the website streaming your content.
Rather than just blocking Dizzler, they would have to block requests with Dizzler as the referrer. That is probably possible but I haven't mucked with a webserver in a while.

Dizzler is a real abusive piece of work. You can file a claim, but they don't make it easy and the further abuse you with chillingeffects.org if you try.

Someone should take these clowns down.

Another little trick I have done in the past to deal with those that hijack content. Replace the items being hijacked with some very inappropriate material and sit back and wait. All that is required is renaming the new material the same as the old and uploading it to your site. I did it with some picture thieves back in the old days of Ebay when you had to find your own host for pictures. I know someone that had a similiar problem as you, he replaced his middle of the road music with some heavy metal thrash rock. It took only a few hours the scum to stop stealing his content.

Hi Happy Trails,

Thank you so much for letting me know. Is there anything else that you might like to add?

I do not care how old the post is, it is related. If you do not want responses, then I urge you to stop posting on a public forum. Seriously, your post is completely useless. This came up in a google search, and I'm not apologizing for posting on it. Now go play in the road or something.

To anyone who can actually benefit from the information that I posted, you are welcome.

Sincerely,
DS

Hijacking old threads is rude. Start your own if you don't find the answer you want in this thread.
