What is the name of your state? NJ I am trying to buy a home from my father. What is the best way to do this? I have been told to do a quit claim to get on the deed then refinance. I have also been advised to get a mortgage and just do a sale/purchase. What is the best way or are there other options on ways to do this.

Hire a lawyer to draw up a deed.

Pay off the old mortgage and get new money.

Buy it just as if you were buying from a stranger; get everything in writing.

Go through a title company.
