What is the name of your state? WV

I understand what adverse possession does/means, but lets me ask you this.

Would someone have to possess my property for say, 10 years while "I" owned it, or does the 10 years mean, from the time they started taking it over? No matter who owned it, even if it changed hands 2 times during the 10 years.

Probably a stupid question, sorry. Cannot seem to find the answer to this.

The laws for adverse possession vary in each state so you would need to check WV law. Having said that, in all the states with which I am familiar, the courts look at the time period that the property was adversly possessed, irrespective of whether that property changed hands during that period.
