What is the name of your state? TX

My divorce decree says that during the school year my ex husband gets the children on Thursday evenings from 6 until the time school starts the next day. It doesn't refer to Thursday visits for the summer. Does that mean that during the summer Thursday visits are not part of his visitation? What is the name of your state?

what it means is that your divorce decree is vague and not very well written.

If you try to take away his Thursdays, he could just as well interpret the order to mean that he gets to keep the children for as long as he wants, after all, school doesn't start the next morning does it??

I would suggest that you either keep things status quo, pretending like school starts at the same time the next morning, or that you come to some sort of an agreement with your ex. Or that you file a petition to modify the order for clarification.

during the school year
Texas has standard language for orders of possession.

The phrase "during the school year" refers to the period of time between the first day of school and the last day of school. Thursday possession by the NCP does not apply to summer break. Or Christmas break or Thanksgiving break which are most likely addressed in your order.

During the summer, NCP's in TX typically have long periods of possession (30 days -- 6 weeks depending on distance).

Good luck.
