Don't know why you went AWOL, but I applaud all those folks that are after you to get you back into service. Travel to the nearest military installation, national guard, reserve, active and turn yourself in. Let the military fly you back on their dime.

Why do you need luck? You signed a contract, took an oath and now don't want to complete it?????

First, you make a committment to serve in the nation's military. Then you run away to hide behind your mother's apron strings when things got rough.

BE AN ADULT. Why should your lack of committment continue to add stress to your families life. If you were my brother, I would have picked you up and tossed you out rather than submit to what you are describing.

If the facts are as you described, I think the military is after you for something more than AWOL which is why you are cowering behind your family. Turn yourself in.

You say be an adult, most of us are just kids. Personally, I'm only 18 years old. I signed my contract when I was 17, alongside my mother of course.

Too young to know what we're really getting ourselves into. That's the bad part. They sugar coat all the advertisements, everything a recruiter tells you, all the commercials, everything. It's all bull****.

I respect the guys that can handle it with everything I have. However, for people like me, we can't handle it. We were too young to understand what we're doing. Bribe me with money and college, and the opportunity to "see the world" (a plane ride straight to iraq for 8 months) yeah, I'm probably going to sign it. Sounds great.

And then one of your friends die. And you see the reality of it all, and you say **** this. Then there's no way out because of your "contract" and you're going crazy but your coc won't do anything about it so you just leave.

That's the boat I'm on. And I could care less. Better to be alive in the brig with a BCD or whatever than be laying dead in Iraq. Or worse, watching your brother's die. **** that.

read your contract

Some of the things that you are missing.

1. A contract is an agreement to fulfill an obligation, it reflects on the type of person you are, your backbone, your honour, the ability for others to depend on you in a pinch. I had a soldier like you once, who swore he would not back his buddy, I made him my buddy and explained to him, I wanted him as a buddy because he tried so hard to sham out of of things that I knew he would try just as hard to stay alive. He admitted I was right and was just trying to get out of the military because he was not happy. He fulfilled his contract and left. Key word here is that he fulfilled his contract.

2. Every example you give is good, with the exeception that none of those professions require you to sign a contract for a specific amount of time. So yes, a policeman can take an oath today and quit tomorrow. A FED is the same way, there is not time obligation. It soundsl like you have lacked the backbone to see things through your entire life.

3. So you got greedy and thought it was like taking candy from a baby, when you signed your contract. Reality sucks, but its the best there is.

4. Let me know where you end up when you turn yourself in, I'll come visit you.

basically

You say be an adult, most of us are just kids. Personally, I'm only 18 years old. I signed my contract when I was 17, alongside my mother of course.

Too young to know what we're really getting ourselves into. That's the bad part. They sugar coat all the advertisements, everything a recruiter tells you, all the commercials, everything. It's all bull****.

So basically, you are simply stating that you are yellow. You make is sound so "me against the BIG OLE BAD SYSTEM" and I'm doing the right thing. Wow, maybe you should run for office.

You enlisted at 17 with your mother signing for you? My state is TX
Either you convinced your mother to sign you in or your mother saw something you were missing and figured the military could help provide it for you.....something like direction in life?

Listen - Best advise you will ever get, go back do your time and get out. At your age, you don't need the stigma of being a deserter. As for dying, you could die in bed, on the street, in a car accident, etc.

Military life is a bitch, (can I post that?) but it is a life and once behind you, you can move on.

Let me ask; how can you allow your family be put through the public BS by the police and whomever is hunting you down? How much longer can you allow them to be put through this? Have you even considered what you are going to do after this? Where will you go?
