I'm just wondering...do you still get paid while AWOL before you goto the PCF? I went AWOL on 6/19/07 from BCT at Fort Jackson. We get paid on the 1st and the 15th of the month. I received my pay on both the 1st and 15th of June, but have not received anything as of today for my July 1st scheduled pay. Granted, I was only there 4 days of the 15th to the 1st pay period, but shouldn't I be getting SOMETHING? And as stupid as this may sound, as long as I'm still showing active duty until my DFR packet is complete, should I still be getting paid? If so, then who would I contact about this without causing undue attention to be brought to me? I could really use any cash due to me right now. I don't expect to get paid for the time I have not been there, but I was there for 4 days. Shouldn't that count for something? Also Taken83Over, please lerave me an e-mail address so that I can get in contact with you to ask you some more questions. Thanks!

You are kinda considered a salary employee , so technically they don't have to pay you anything unless you complete a month of service, sense you are paid by the month. But, there were a couple people at the PCF who brought up question's like this, and they were told to get in contact with finance. But in your case, I would not do this until you have already turned yourself in. Once at the PCF, you can ask them the same question's when you go to ACAP to verify.

I rather just answer question's here, so everyone can learn something. Communicating via email, would only be beneficial to you, and I want to help as many people as possible.

If you have a personal question you wish to discuss privately, then please send me a PM.

they'll stop the pay when you go awol not when your DFR. you will get paid when in pcf though. if you need cash in the meantime you might try a credit card or relative. :) if you need a job bad you can go back to your unit and deal with the temporary punishment of awol. if your not dfr you can still go back.

So why do you think you should be getting paid since you are not there? That's like me not going into work and expecting to get paid. Plus, isn't going AWOL criminal???

My TWO Cents

I would recomend going to the nearest base, or at least calling them. Go to the finance officer and ask them in person. That is why they have customer service personell. If you can not go there call them, they will probably want a postal address where to send you a check.

Now my 3 Cents, You obviously did not grow up with the same values i did in Alabama, i am from Union Grove. It is up north below huntsville. Contracts are signed by a word of mouth and handshake. If you signed up to do the job you should do it not run off screaming i qive up. Did you know Alabama has a long history of providing soldiers to its government in a time of war? We have lost entire regiments and companys in single battles. Take the 3rd Alabama and the 4th Alabama. The 3rd was desimated at Getteysberg, the 4th almost wiped out. Alabama boys do not run or back down. So the fact you stated Alabama was your state burns me a lot. More than you being a thumb sucking, yellow stripped back, coward. Look on the bright side maybe you can get a job at GoldKist hanging chickens if the illegals will accept you.:D

You are lucky you are not in our Batt. We just sent a deserter to the confinment facility in Lewis for 5yrs for desertion.

Nothing but respect...

Thanks for all of the replies. First off, I DO NOT expect to the paid for anything I have not done. I was just simply asking about the pay I have not received for the time I was in, Secondly, I have total respect and honor for those brave men and women who can and do serve our nation proudly. I thought it was for me. Now I know it wasn't. God has other plans for my life. Not too mention the health problems I have. I would not ever make a good soldier. I had a discharge "pending" (a chapter 11,) but they (my unit,) were in no hurry to push it through if grant it at all. I don't expect anyone to understand until you've "walked a mile in my shoes." Until then, please don't condem someone for a decision they had to make. TakenOver, my question to you was, in my current state of just AWOL not DFR, when I got to apply for a job and they run a background check, what will show up? Will it show that I am AWOL, will it say "active ARMY" as the Deserter Hotline still shows? In other words, how can I combat the questions if asked? Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks!

Sense you are not DFR, you will not have a bench warrant out for your arrest yet, so a background check should not show anything. I am not sure if it will say if you are currently employed with the army.

why?

Simple answer is if you are still getting paid then the answer is yes, if you are not getting pay then the answer is NO.

But why should they pay you to stay on the run?

explain this to me once more?

You have medical problems and are awol? Just go back to your unit, request a medical out and take the punishment you are dealt. If your medical/health issues arose while you were in service, the military should take care of you. If your unit wasn't in a hurry to chapter you out under 11 consider it a favor and go for medical.

As far as I'm concerned you are entitled to nothing, but some jail time (about 5-10) or death for going awol in time of war, but the military is too weak to follow through on their own regulations.

That aside, don't continue to be the dirtbag that you are, turn yourself in and get out the right way. You posted that god had other plans for you, does this mean you are going to enter the seminary or something like that?

I know you do not need advice any longer but I am posting this for any one else that may wonder about being paid after going AWOL. I went AWOL twice from Fort Jackson and they continued to pay me 568$. I suggest not spending the money that you receive from them while your status is AWOL. I received a debt bill 5 months after being gone from the Army saying I owed them money for what they accidentally gave me. If you don't pay it or are late paying every month then interest goes up.

Just go back to the base and find the personnel office and ask them about it. I am sure they can explain how they mixed up and forgot to pay you for your four days. In fact, from the way you made it sound maybe you could convince them to continue paying you until you are DFR.
