Involuntary Commitment and Gun Ownership

What is the name of your state? Texas

I was involuntarily committed because of suicide attempt. When I was being treated for my overdose, a hospital counselor had me sign into the psychiatric hospital. It was explained to me that this would supposedly keep the court out of the commitment procedure. I would however still be an involuntary patient.

My question is how would this previous situation affect my ability to own a gun?

Are you freaking kidding? you tried to kill yourself, and I cannot comprehend why you would want a gun.
