What is the name of your state? MD

I have been married to my wife for 4 years, but the longest we lived together was for 6 month, twice, and once for 3 months. The rest of the time we lived apart, once we abandoned the relationship for 1 full year. No children.

My wife is trying to get her green-card now, and because of the problems, I offered her a lump sum to divorce and settle, but she insists on getting a green-card. She is on a tourist visa which expires in a couple of weeks. I would like to do the right thing.

I have 3 specific questions:
1. How does the fact that we lived briefly, not the entire period, play into the picture?
2. My wife has a high earling potential in her native country, but low int he US, she is now a tourist -- how does that play. I mean, she is degrading her career prospectives by choice!!! to stay int he US.
3. I could not work the first year we were married, because I lived in her country, so I was in dept for the next 2 years. Does this have an effect ...

thank you so much for your answers.

You don't OWE her a thing.
Could you please elaborate. I offered this woman $10,000, which is more than she can make in one year in her native country, and she refused. It appears that her attorney convinced her that she has some leg to stand on!!
