What is the name of your state?

ok here we go.....well I am sure you all have read my other posts, and you will see that my awol story is a little different then others...I had cops coming to my door driving all over lookin for me exc....it sucked...ok..well Monday night (July 9th)...I had to have my friend back into my driveway so I could hop in his trunk and get to the bus station without a local pig seeing me..from there it started....the bus ride sucked...its never on time I will let you all know right now...I was a hour late to every stop we made..

I arived at the Lawton bus station around 7pm, there is a list of cabs on the window so I just called the first one I seen, it was $6 bucks to get from the bus station to the gates of fort sill when you get there bring your I.D. if you dont you have to write a statement on what happened to it...anyways...the MPS are really cool there so use to awol's its no thing...I got to ride up front with mine..we talked for awile on why I went awol...and his military exp. and where Im from and stuff..well when you get to the PCF its nothing you would of expected, you walk in with the MP and right away an escort signs you in and briefs you on what goes on around the place, it goes a little somthing like this...

You will be here for 2-4 weeks, ( they are told to say this, they even say you usualy get out in a week, but some times it doesnt always work that way, like for me :(....)

wake up is at 5am lights out is at 9:45pm...chow is at 8am...12:30pm...and 7pm...depending on what time the other soldiers get done you usualy get to go...(they dont want anyone on base knowing who you are...there were sergeants asking who we were and why we were in BDU's) DO NOT!! talk to girls..and girls do not talk to guys...you will pull a 2 hour fire guard shift..and you will be cutting alot of grass the next day, and they scare you saying your paper work is going to get lost..( when the first sergeant himself says it, its a little scary ) after dinner chow you get free time, you can use the phone ( if you get on it) the first day your there you get to use it before everyone else....girls usualy get to go first and they always take up the phone time..so you will prob. only get 5 minuts to talk..( BRING PHONE CARDS) i used 600 minuts in my 10 day adventure like it was nothing...you can watch t.v. play cards, shower..thats about it...they escorts there are posibly some of the funniest people you will ever meet in your life...all they do is talk smack and pick on you ( in a funny way) its a pretty relaxed placed, most of your time you will be sitting on bleachers made of wood and your ass is going to start to hurt after the first day...( its going to hurt even more for you guys goin down there, people kept writing on the bench so they made us paint it all black to cover it all up...so the sun is ganna make it nice and toasty for you :)....

TUESDAY I improcessed...you walk to the building next door and a spc. will ask you why you went AWOL.. what should the army change to prevent people from goin awol..( kinda like a survay thing... WEDNESDAY: you go to ACAP..its a hour long class you take to pretty much explains your discharge is not the end of the world and your going to be just fine regardless of what you heard ( they are aware the military pounds things into your head and tell you AWOL is so bad and will ruin your life...and your brainwashed to believe that like some of the people on here...and acaps job is to undue that process by telling you your going to be just fine)...depending on the group size 1st sergeant will read people Wednesday morning and after acap..but usualy THURSDAY: is the day he reads people..he is the coolest guy you will ever meet..(he even came out and cut grass with us one day)..he is very understanding and has alot of sympothy for people and if you have a good reason for goin awol..your going to get a chapter 10..and if its really good you will get a chap. 11 (general discharge) Friday is JAG, you go into a big room with a group they give you your packet tell you what your rights are, ask if you want to be court marshaled..if no then you sign your name a few places turn your packet in and your good to go...you will usualy get let go anywhere between 11am-noon...I had 50 people in my group..so things were crouded and really slow..

ok so this is the most common question I see on here...

REGULAR ARMY..if you get there monday..you will be out by friday if you left while in some sort of training..basic..AIT..or airborn...

National guard/reserves...BRING YOUR ORDERS!!!!!!!!! before you turn yourself in contact your recruiter or your unit..dont be scared to just effin do it...you also need to bring the form that tells you, you have been droped from the rolls and you have 30 days to turn yourself in...dont have it??? your unit does..contact them and get them to fax it to you..without these 2 things in hand..its up to the people who improcess you to get it..and do you think there in any kind of hurry to contact your unit to get that stuff for you??? no...not at all..I had to stay an extra week cuz of that crap...I was stuck there being national guard, and 2 other reserves who stayed 2 weeks with me because of this..

listen do not be scared...unless you hit a NCO in the face or an officer...your going to get out...they chapter 10 everyone..( 1st srg. picks a select few each group to give general discharges to) if you where still in basic..your going to get a uncharicterized discharge...wich is no different just a little better on your background...if you want to stay in...good luck...your probably going to get turned down unless you can explain yourself really good..there is one kid who has been there for a month beucase he is trying to stay in pvt. Chadik...great guy...anyways 1st sarg. told him to STOP telling people he is staying in because people keep asking if they can to..and trust me..THEY DONT WANT YOU!! your not ganna see jail time, or return to duty or any of that crap...the Jag officer even said heself..EVERYONE goes home...in her 2 years of being there an outprocessing thousands of soldiers...shes only seen 1 person get there chapter 10 pulled..

If you were already stationed at a unit that is still in the states..your going back to them the next day...i was there for 2 cycles so I got to see that alot....if your unit was stationed over sea's or you even miss a movement...your a** is going home...one kid even missed a movement to Iraq and got there tuesday and left friday...so dont be scared just make sure your story is really good why you went awol...usualy really bad family problems works...

ok now! all the escorts...1st sergeant and the CMND srg. Major had a meeting...and it was no BS cuz even the escorts were pissed off when they heard this...Srg Major is now extending the stay at fort sill because he thinks its BS people are getting in and out of the army so dam fast...they now have to tell you 3-4 weeks...but the 1st sergeant says that wont start for another 3 or 4 cycles so TURN YOURSELF IN!!!!! while its still a week...get there on a sunday to...just to be safe...and the escorts are made because when you go to chow...they drive you in a 2 vans that carry 15 soldiers a peace...and when I was there they had to make 2 passes to get the rest of us...they hated it...the more people the erlyer free time has to start so every one can use the phone and shower.. but when I saw the last cycles starting to show up they were telling them you will be here 4 weeks...so idk whats goin on with it...

BRING LOTS OF CIGS AND CHEW!!! you can smoke ...actualy..its all you can do...bring 20 bucks (its all you can have on you) to buy more smokes an phone cards...and keep a few singles..cuz when you go out on details..civilians pick u up and take you out..you will do about an hour of work..and then sit around the rest of the time..and u can buy candy an pop from the vendors...its a really relaxed place..so just get the **** over with turn yourself it..and put it behind you!!!!!!!!

after being there, its ganna be imposible to keep people there 4 weeks...so..dont sweat it...youll understand what I mean when u see it for yourself...

My Husband went awol for mental/medical issues that he has had his whole life. He was permanent party, but his unit shipped out the end of January (this year). There is still a few guys on base like a Capt., etc from his unit, to like take care of the company area while everyone is gone. Do you still get shipped back??? He wants to know if you met anyone that was airborne or from Ft. Bragg that got out? He has heard its next to impossible to get out if you were stationed there.

He has tons of medical records from his past and from while he was gone stating he has reacurrent depression, chronic and severe PTSD, etc.

His Capt. that is watching company area hates him, but the Major or the JAG dept. at Ft. Bragg is understanding.

No one usually gets charged with desertion or missing movement, etc???

Basically from what you saw over there what do you think might happen if he went to Ft. Sill instead of back to Ft. Bragg to turn himself in?

If you were already stationed at a unit that is still in the states..your going back to them the next day...i was there for 2 cycles so I got to see that alot....if your unit was stationed over sea's or you even miss a movement...your a** is going home...one kid even missed a movement to Iraq and got there tuesday and left friday...so dont be scared just make sure your story is really good why you went awol...usualy really bad family problems works...
So that is not accurate?

well it depends on what his unit wants to do with him, the kid that missed movement to Iraq talked to his company comander and talked it out with him I guess before he turned himself back in...try to get in contact with his unit or have him do it, they more then likely will tell you what there ganna do to him..

Oh. His CO would be the Capt.????

He does not like my Husband at all and has a past with treating guys in this situation with abuse and harrassment. Thats why there is an agreement in writing stating he will not be around him at all or sent to that unit.....

So looks like Ft. Bragg it is.....

Please Help

If he is Permanent Party, and show's up at Sill, they will send him back to his unit.

What will happen when they send him back to his unit??? will he be outprocessed there?? My Husband has gone awol from his unit that is stationed here in the states we had a lot of bad family problems happen which was the cause of him going awol from his unit, it has been over 60 days since he has left and he is wanting to turn himself in and was going to go to fort sill but I just read they will be returned back to there unit. Does anyone know what then happens when they are returned back to there unit. Please advised me I am a very concerned wife.

No one can 100% tell you what will happen. Call the GI Hotline at 1-800-394-9544.
Be advised, the longer he remains UA-now classified as a Deserter, the more
problems he will bring upon himself!

As I see that there have been many that have gone through this. He just could not handle it mentally. But yeah should we just follow your roll on what you have done but at fort beneg. Do you know about how long we have to wiat for him to do all of this? And do you know if they will send police to my house for this? BUt if you can help it would be great thank you!!
