My house was up for foreclosure last week and I just got a letter from a law firm offering me $2500 cash to 'volutarily vacate' the property in two weeks and under some circumstances. They call this payment 'relocation assistance'.

Contract is understandable and seems legitimate to my eyes but I've never heard of such a thing. I think I understand why this makes some sense, that I could string out an eviction in court and cost whoever has interest in the property money on attourneys. Just curious how legitimate this may be. Thanks!

It's not at all unusual for this offering .

If it equals out to about 3 months rent or more it's a good deal .

Make sure you get the check up front and the funds are avail. for cashing , and a signed contract before vacating the premises .

I agree with BL it is a good offer, If you dont take it you can still end up being told to move and with the foreclosure just who in the H are you going to fight with over a deposit you might not ever get back ? Read other post that talk about lost deposits when foreclosures occur.
