What is the name of your state? Illinois. My husband has been paying child support for 17 years. By his own mistake he paid support directly to his ex-wife for almost 4 years. Now after all these years the Department of Child support enforcement is saying that he is delinquent in the amount of $11,000 plus interest. Up until October of 2006 he never recieved anything stating he was behind in child support payments and they wait all these years to try and claim this money now. If he was truly behind in payments wouldn't they have been garnishing his wages or at least taking his income tax returns?What is the name of your state?

What proof can he provide that he was making those payments? Would the ex be willing to testify that he did so?

Was the ex on state aid?
