Have you asked your parents where the money is?

Well they are divorced and it was my fathers dad. Last i talked to him about it he was using the interest from it to make his house payments. From what i understand the poa of his estate or whatever is my grandmother and a very hard person to talk to espicially about money.

He can't do that, unless the money was left TO him. I wonder if your grandparent, like many others, didn't word the will correctly, and left the money to your father with the intention of him turning it over to you later.

Contact the probte courts in the county where he died.

First, ask if there is a probate file for your grandfather's estate. If you live within a reasonable distance, visit the probate court and ask to view the file. If not, ask the clerks there what you have to do to get a copy sent to you.

Even if your grandfather created some type of trust, the probate file may contain references to it.

Especially, if it's a testamentary trust. Other than that, monies left to minors would require guardian of the estate (depending on the amount left per one's state statutes).
