Hey folks. Well, it's finally going to happen. I'm leaving for Fort Sill for my (hopefully) weeklong outprocessing tour of duty. Everything seems to be going right in line with the advicer I've received on here and the GI Hotline. I am DFR (have been for a few weeks now,) and everything looks in order. The ONLY questionable part is whether I have a federally issued warrant in the NCIC computer as of yet. One time the deserter hotline told me yes, other's they say no. The last time they said no. They've said no more than yes. If that is indeed the case, if I have no warrant, can I be okay with flying with no risk of being arrested? What do yall think? Or, should I just take the bus?

I contacted the security at the airport and told them that my son was awol and had a warrant and asked them if he would be able to fly. The officer told me that they don't have a list for military awol people or a list for all federal warrants. He said that they are looking for other people (terrorists) but that he could not guarantee that his name wouldn't come up. He also said "so his if his name comes up and is arrested what is the difference, he will get to where he was going anyway." So I couldn't get a guarantee from him. However the next day my son was driving and was stopped by the police and they arrested him. He spent the night in jail and the military let him out the next day with a plane ticket to Fort Sill. He just got there wed. and they told him he would be out the following Thursday.

My husband went through fort know and he flew there. there were no problems at airport. he checked in online the night before. make sure you paperwork is there. fort sill is going to start making it take 3-4 weeks to get out. hopefully you will make it in time. my husband just went the first week of august.

Really makes no difference, just go, and either try to make good in salvaging your free willed enlistment,
or suffer the lifelong consequence from the stigma in having less than a honorable discharge!

why does it matter if you are arrested or not? Same thing is going to happen no matter what.
