What is the name of your state? WA

My ex owes me over 80 grand that has accumulated over 13 years. I have always had full custody. Our 18 year old just moved out in June (so proud of him!) and I have our 13 year old daughter left. I agree we need to update the CS order. I have since remarried and me ex has remained a dead beat. He was ordered to pay 724 per month for the 2 like 12 years ago. Over the past 4 years he decided to start paying me a little bit here and there. This past year he might average 200 per month. This is our first time reviewing it as it is what we both want.
I filled out my forms and he filled out his and sent them off to Child Support Enforcement. Next thing I know my ex tells me the prosecuting attorney told him that I would have to pay him like $12 per month. Then I get a letter showing that my ex denied the decision and we would work it out ourselves. He was told it would take up to 6 months to go the the courts. He supposedly told the prosecutor that he had to pay me something and that is why he wanted us to work it our ourselves.
So I call our Support officer. He couldn't see how he could think that I would have to pay him money. He was also shocked that he would be allowed to see my paperwork. I requested copies of the paperwork he filled out. The support officer said he would try and get them for me but wasn't sure if he could. He also could not tell me who the prosecutor is or how to find out. I was under the impression that the case could get referred to the prosecutors office only if we didn't agree with Support Enforcements decision. Funny how he could talk to a prosecutor and no-one ever contacted me.
Now I do make good money for myself and my current husband makes good money but he pays support for his 2 kids and supplies health care coverage for all 4 of kids. I had to write in what my current husbands income is and show copies of our tax filings for the past 2 years. This really makes me mad that my ex can see our wages yet I have no idea what his self employed wage is (or what he claims it to be).
Do you think the court would have copies of what he turned it? Or would that remain soley with the Support Enforcement office?
I now find this all hard to beleive when he owes me so very much in back support even if I can finally live half way confortable on my own income. I thought it wouldn't matter what my income was and how much bills I have. He owes so much that they would make him pay me something towards the back support anyway. Any ideas would be much appreciatedWhat is the name of your state?

I just don't see how the Prosecutor nor the Office of Child Support Enforcement agency could figure that I would owe my Ex money when he owes me over 80 grand in back support and I have the child living with me. Is this possible?

Answer my question.

Do you have your court paperwork in front of you? Because you're not making a lot of specific sense. Tell the problem -- concisely -- and ask a question.

I received nothing that says I have to pay. This is what my ex told me the prosecutor told him. The only notification I have received is that the action has been denied due to the fact my ex denied it to have us work it out on our own.
No-one has shown me what it would have worked out to be based on what we both turned it. My support enforcement officer couldn't even tell me anything. He sounded shocked that my ex had any info at all. It just all sounds to fishy and I don't know what to do now. I just know that I am not going to be the one to pay him!

The next time your ex calls on the phone about this - hang up on him. Tell him to send you his request in writing (for whatever it is), and to back up his statements with written documentation.

I will have the paper in front of me in the next 2 hours. It's in my car which is not here at the moment. Sorry. I don't know the lingo on here anymore as I have been away from this site for quite some time. I'll get back to you as to exactly what the letter from the state says. Thanks much

Division of Child Support

Modification Or Adjustment Review Findings Notice

The Division of Child Support completed the action marked on this form for the child support order involved in this case. The order was entered on 8/5/1996.
(the box selected reads as follows)
Other: The Snohomish County Prosecutor declined the modification per the request of Mr. BLANK (my ex).

Then it just says if you don't agree with the decision I can contest the review findings. If I do so the Office of Administrative Hearings will provide and opportunity to contest the findings. It lists the Authorized Representative as my Child Support Officer who knew nothing. It tells me to contact the Division of Child Support if I have any questions.

I did that and they knew nothing.

I suggest that you file for a modification yourself. That way the case cannot be dismissed by your ex.

I have a feeling that between regular CS payments and arrearages payments he found out that he was perhaps going to have to pay more...rather than less, and therefore dismissed the case.

Yeah I think he is full of it the more I think about it. I just got off the phone again with my Child Support officer and we pretty much agreed that he screwed himself by denying the modification!! He would have to request it again or take me to court to have anything changed. So I can just sit back and do nothing until he makes a move with the courts! And that takes a minimum of 6 months! His support will just keep building and building!! Nothing new.
Thanks for listening and taking the time to respond. :)

I'm more curious than anything, but how has he gotten away without paying for so long? My husband has been out of work and unable to pay CS for almost six months. We just got the amount lowered until he can get back on his feet.

Here they seize taxes, they seized our checking account which had no money in it and ended up putting us $80 in the hole. We just got a notice that they were suspending his drivers license next month unless he pays the $2000 now due. My ex missed one payment, actually he didn't miss it but CS misapplied it as overage because it was paid on the 1st and 31st of the same month... They put it on his credit record, garnished his wages etc.

They are very good at getting their money... so how have they not caught up with him? Getting that far behind can even end people up in jail here.

she mentioned working under the table- so chances are there are no wages to garnish. in our case, mom doesn't work or quickly moves from job to job, owns nothing, has no bank account. doesn't have a license. we are tn and she is al. tn tells us they won't put moms in jail. there are so many forms to fill out and hassle that it gets lost. chances are cs can't find any info on the guy to get.
