What is the name of your state? New Jersey
Although I live in NJ, I work in New York, so this is a New York question, I guess. I was surprised to see that someone else already posted here that he/she wasn't getting paycheck stubs, because that's my problem, too. I just started a job in New York, and on the Friday of my first week, I was given a "regular check" (not a paycheck) for what seemed to be the net amount of my paycheck. There was no stub telling me what my gross pay was, how much was deducted for FICA, how much was deducted for the IRS, how much was deducted for NY State income tax, etc. The owner of the company was already angry at me for not catching on as quickly as she wanted me to, so I didn't dare complain. I didn't get a check last week, because we get paid every two weeks.
What should I do if my next paycheck is also a "regular check"? I checked New York State's website, and it says that employees are entitled to paycheck stubs showing deductions. I couldn't even prove that I work for the company, since the check they gave me doesn't indicate that I'm an employee. It's just a check.
If I reported the company to New York State, wouldn't they have the right to fire me?
