What is the name of your state? Live in Mississippi / Work offshore of Louisiana

I work on an offshore drilling rig in the Gulf of Mexico and on multiple occasions, several of the employees have made lewd comments regarding my sexual orientation, even to the point of calling me "que*r" while on the job. They have also asked me if I have ever participated in any homosexual encounters and even expressed their thoughts and beliefs about homosexuality. Even after speaking with upper management regarding the conduct of the employees, it still occurs on almost a daily basis.

This conduct has made me feel extremely uncomfortable in my surroundings and I have suffered mental anguish, social anxiety, and severe depression as a result. If I were to complain about the issue again, I fear the loss of my job.

Can you please help!

To my knowledge, sexual orientation is not a protected class under Title VII. And, since you're working offshore, federal law would be the one that would apply.

I've worked with these kind of guys. I don't disagree that it would be difficult in any situation for a female on a rig. In this case, maybe just a tougher skin needs to be developed.

Did I miss something? Female?

While I concur on the lack of a discrimination claim, if you're not gay, there's a potential slander claim to be made. Of course, pursuing it would cost a fortune and there's no guarantee you'd win, but the other workers don't need to know that part.

Maybe I should clarify further. I am male and I'm not saying that I am being discriminated against. The company considers this sexual harrassment and since they aren't doing anything about it, I'm having to find other means.

Violation of a company's internal harassment policy is not illegal, unless the policy is mirrored in the law. (This policy is not). Since the company is only obligated to take action to correct prohibited behavior, and this is not, hiring your own lawyer will probably not have much effect.
