What is the name of your state?
CA

Not sure if this is something I should contact an attorney
about.
My boyfriends ex-girlfriend has decided to do a background
and credit check on me through the financial institution
she works for, and this is obviously without my consent. I
want to call her employer to let them know she has done
this as I am sure it breaks some sort of privacy agreement
she made when getting the job, as well as putting marks on
my great credit. What is the best way for me to proceed?
I am in California, she is in Virginia.
Thank you

She told my boyfriend that she did this at work. She seemed to know alot about me; refinancing my home, paying off my car, what types of bills I had and what my credit score was.

Alright.

She works at a bank? Does he have ANY idea what department she works in? Are you able to go to a local branch and get a contact # of someone in security? Can you find out who the supervisor of this person is?

I am not sure if it is an actual bank, but it is some sort of financial institution that provides loans/mortgages/etc to people.
My boyfriend gave me the info on where she worked and I called there today to speak with her supervisor, but he had already left for the day. So I have his number and ext. to call on Monday.
There is not a local branch here in California that I know of. And in Virginia it's just after 6PM, so I assume they are closed.

This would not be a defamation action.

The ex-girlfriend, if she did not have a legitimate reason for pulling your credit information, is no doubt in violation of her company's policies. Calling and speaking with the supervisor on Monday is your best course of action.

Unless you can show damages arising from the undoubtedly illegal and/or unethical pulling of your report, you really have no recourse other than reporting her actions.

Thanks, I should have addressed that. BUT, I'D love to see her get busted for doing something so stupid. That's what I was focused on!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks. I figured that is what I should do, as I'm not looking to make money on this by taking anyone to court. I just want to make sure she isn't using my personal information to screw me over.
Thanks for the help.
