What is the name of your state? Oregon.
i am a grandmother who is trying to get custody of my grandchildren, they are in dhs care , in a foster home. The dhs workers are telling me that because i was in their system 18 years ago ,i can't have them. I don't know what to do , i am law dumb. I went to Legal Aide, and they told they don't have the man power to help me.THEY said write a letter to the judge, and maybe he will listen to me and maybe he won't.My daughters last courtt date is the 6th of November, and DHS is telling her to sign papers. What can i do? The only thing I have on my record is failure to appears, from years ago.

Where is the father? What papers does DHS want your daughter to sign? What were you 'in the system' for?

Also... why are the children in foster care?

What is your relationship with your daughter?

What's the children's relationship with YOU?

How old are the children?

What did you fail to appear for? And do not say that you failed to appear for court. Because I have that part figured out.

Heh. Feeling better and taking your snarky pills again?
Not feeling better but do have a doctor's appointment scheduled -- for next thursday but you know... it is scheduled. I do think I got my snarky pills refilled though. Makes life easier for me.
