What is the name of your state? PA

Good evening, my mother recently received a letter stating a judgment was filed against her for a Providian credit card over 7 years ago and close to 10yrs ago. The letter stated something to the effect of: There being a judgment filed against her because she failed to appear in court on the 13th of this month. She doesn't recall a letter stating she had to appear in court. She hasn't been working for the past month & a hallf. She recently, went back to work just this Tuesday, after receiving the letter on the 15th of this month. She's losing sleep, worrying they'll take her house over this. What's the next step? Thanks in advance.

What's the next step?
You're post makes no mention as to whether she actually OWES on the debt or not.
If she does, her 'next step' would be to contact the judgment creditor and negotiate a payment plan.
If she doesn't owe, then her 'next step' would be to the court to review the 'notice of service' and to make sure that she was properly noticed of the lawsuit filing.

Not all of it...

Thanks for your reply. She states she doesn't owe $3000, like they are claiming. She did contact them for an itemization of her charges. She was told they don't have it. Now what does she do? Thanks in advance.
