Thanks for your input. I know he is trying to scare me or "blackmail" me into paying his insurance, and I just wanted to get some other opinions on if I am looking at this the right way. And I am not afraid of him physically, he never hit me (busted a few walls, though), but he does try to do mental and emotional harm. Because he is Sicilian, he "knows" people and I have heard him threaten to call them to harm others that have "wronged" him in the past. He never did, at least not yet.
If he threatens you physically, either in actuality, or by his words or actions. Then, by all means file for a protective order.

The best way to avoid 'blackmail' is to be honest with your family. You don't have to give them the nitty-gritty. It can be a simple as your X is extremely angry and he is threatening to tell them things about you that aren't true.

Do as others have suggested and tell your son that dad is angry at you and is saying things that he shouldn't.

AND TALK with your X about that behaviour.

Indeed, Stacy, that was not directed specifically at you. It's an internal message, and I apologize for your confusion.

If you want to read my point of view: I wouldn't give him the time of day, nor would I concern myself with his spewing. Except as concerns the child, and you have received good info on how to handle that. Never stoop to his level.

Thanks Silver. Oh, and I forgot to mention, after he says all this, he tells me he still loves me and always will. Can we say "pyscho"....well, I think he may be, anyway.

That Ginny...she's full of secrets!
Next thing you know, we'll find out she's not only Canadian, but is actually running for Prime Minister or something. ;)
:D
English was NOT my first language; and I had an auntie who knew British English very well - as opposed to American English, so my spelling is sometimes British. But I sound so dang American :D:D:D I do get teased with some of my accent.

It's just funny. I correspond with quite a few Canadians via email and messenger and I find myself adopting their spelling for a lot of things. I can't tell you how many times I backspace to take out an extraneous U or an S instead of a Z.

I knew you were up to something! :D :p

You write so well, especially for someone whose first language was not English! :):):)

My mother is not from the USA, and speaks/writes English flawlessly. I have high standards! :D
