Hello, my name is mina. I work for a company and I do all the payroll and help new employees with their application. I don't have much experience with the W-4 form that they fill out. But I try helping them by reading and asking them the questions on the w-4 form.
Now my questions are:
On line E. are they suppose to enter 1 if they pay more than 50% of the house rent, or mortgage? does it matter if they are married or single?
On Line F. What do they mean by dependent care expenses? If I am claiming my wife does her expenses count as dependent expenses.
On Line G.if the total income is less than $58,000 and I have 3 child's I am claiming do I put 6 on line G? Since it says enter 2 for each eligible child?
On Line H. It says add A through G.
After I add them. Will this be the number of allowances the employee will have?
I put the new employees information into the system. We use quick books. It asked for number of allowances. Should I put the number on line H?
Sometimes college students come to fill up application and they ask me. If they should be exempt from taxes since they are students. And I don't know what to tell them.
Should they be exempt from taxes? If they are what do I put on the W-4 and how many allowances should I put in quick books. Or what do I do in quick books?
