Can the SRS override existing State laws in making decisions on a childs well being? Kansas is the state.

They don't override state laws...they are a state agency themselves. And, Yes, if there is a credible finding of abuse/neglect/abandonment~ They have the legal authority to step in & take Custody of the child(ren).

It would help if you gave more information re; the case you are speaking of.

There is a state law that after a certain age, male and female children must have seperate rooms. The SRS has overridden the state law and has allowed the male and female child to stay in the same room. Both are above the state law as to age.
