What is the name of your state? NJ - NY


Hello I live in New jersey and I work In New York.

on my paycheck it says that they take

NY - CITY RESIDENT
Federal withholding
social security employee
medicare employee
ny-Disability employee
ny-withholding


Is this correct if I live in New Jersey??

what should they add and what should they remove.

It doesn't look correct to me. They should be withholding NJ state taxes (maybe NY too since you work there) but shouldn't be withholding NY- City Resident because you are not a resident of NYC.

I dont think my ciry has any resident tax I live in bayonne, NJ

You may be subject to tax in NJ at a resident rate and NY at a non-resident rate, therefore they maybe should be withholding both NJ and NY. I don't practise in either state, therefore I can't give you a definative answer. Check with a local tax pro.
