Lt cap gain of a mutual fund held (not sold), is that the same as unrealized capital gains that doesn't have to be reported on a tax return?

What part of what the good folks on the Fairmark forum told you didn't you understand?

If you can't describe exactly what that statement says, then nobody here will be able to tell you. It may simply be a statement of current value, cost basis, and gain.

But, more likely, it is telling you the long-tem capital gain distribution for the fund for 2007. And that is taxable. Does the statement say anything about being a 1099 or a Substitute 1099?
