Concerns... Thanks

Hey, I wanted to express my main concerns to see what everyone on this forum can contribute (= You all have been VERY helpful so far, Thank you!

MY MAIN CONCERNS:

1)Of course, I'm concerned over us being young and living with my parents, I don't know of anyone else thats 18 and a half and doing this... We don't have much of anything in our names except for love lol... and bank acc. and pics, and married name on my Driver license and ss card.

2) Ok, here's my second main concern..... so, we're living with my parents in my old room thats pink lol... we really need to paint it... my husband i think is getting sick of seeing pink, but on to my concern, I've heard immigration officers visit your home, how often does this REALLY happen???

3) Ok, here is my third main concern. IF I am understanding correctly, you have an interview approximateyl 6-8 months after you file where you take all your evidence, etc. to Atlanta and they ask how you met and ask you all the no,no,no,no questions and review your stuff. I've heard that IF they not convinced, that you are sent into a "Stokes" interview where you're put in separate room and drained about your life together... I've also heard they tell you "lies" whatever that means.... So how many people actually get a Stokes interview?

4) Ok, my fourth concern, so say they don't believe us, give a stokes interview and we pass it.. we get accepted right? How many people that get a stokes actually pass it?

5) Fifth concern, (we're legitimate so I don't think this will happen but just a "what-if") IF we DON'T pass the stokes, we get denied, so what happens then, I know you can appeal, but what happens then do I get convicted of fraud and he gets sent back, This doesn't happen to real marriages does it?

Ok, I think thats all my concerns, other than is there anything i'm missing, is there like an interview before the AOS interview... thats it!! Thank you all

Honestly?

I think you should scrape up $150 bucks or so and have a consultation with an immigration attorney and have her go over all your documentation and the forms you've completed. She can answer your concerns and make sure that you are on the right track.

It's not really appropriate for anyone online to give you the assurance you want.

:) yea, but honestly, all an attorney is going to do is tell me what i already know.. I was rather looking for someone with a "personal" experience of thier own that could discuss concerns with. I'm ready to file, I know what I've got to do, I just wanted some socialization with someone who's been through this before..... anyone?

How on earth do you know that you will only hear what you already know? I've been following this stuff closely as a hobby for over 6 years.. there is no way I would give you a definitive answer to your questions because --I don't know you-- and you are asking delicate LEGAL questions.

This isn't a very good forum for personal experiences, but there are several others out there. I've been involved with the two biggest ones for a long time and frankly, have NOT come across many people in your situation. This is part of the reason I keep encouraging you to get some proper assistance.

When you find other cases to compare yourself with, remember that your case is not going to be like anyone else's in the fine details.. especially the ones that are potential problems for you.
<shrug> I simply don't see the wisdom in being 'penny wise' over a couple hundred bucks or less.

You think you know as much as what an attorney with experience in this area of law knows? That's rather presumptuous of you, isn't it? You really don't know very much if you think you know all there is to know about this process. You've spent many posts asking rather detailed questions about the process and assuming that you know what to do when in fact your assumptions were incorrect.

Personal experiences of other people are NOT going to help you because there is no such thing as an exactly same situation as yours. There are differences in couples, their relationships, how the foreign national spouse entered, where the interview is being conducted, who is conducting the interview, etc. Anyone with personal experience can only give you THEIR one time experience and as much as you might want to think that it is "just like your own" it simply is not. An immigration attorney, on the other hand, has had many many clients who have had very different situations and who have gone through interviews before different officers in different offices and has much more insight on the process of these types of applications. If you don't want to consult with one, that is your own prerogative, but it is a foolish one, in my opinion. For someone who is under 20, as you yourself indicate, you are assuming that you know a great deal but you really should admit that you don't and go from there.

I'm not saying I know as much as an attorney, I just don't see how there's anything else they can tell us to do. They can't "create" more marriage evidence for us, and that's what we're lacking. Though they could suggest some, but we're getting all we can already. Lana, you have been very helpful, and honestly, you know all about my case there is to know (entered 2001 B2, expired 2002,overstayed, married 2007;no crimial, no EWI, hasn't been out of US since 2001). My husband's done everything correctly and lawfully so far other than overstaying, and that's forgiven as I am a USC) If there's anything else that attorneys would need to know please tell me! (=

But thank you for pointing out that I am thinking wrong...... Please forgive me if I've offended you in any way with what I've said. We just don't have the money to go to an attorney. I'm hoping our situation isn't too complicated, we have everything they ask for to file now, we're getting the affidavits and letter from parents about living conditions done this week and we're hoping they'll be satisfied with what we have, we're empty-pocket students, so no we don't have our own house, or car, etc. We're just students working on making a difference for our future TOGETHER (= We hope!!!!! We know we should wait to file when we have more of "a life on our own" but we are going to be together for the rest of our lives, so we need to start our future now.

Forgive my ignorance, I just can't afford an attorney. I hope the advice I have gotten through LONG hours of research and questions that I have checked through cross-refernce of MANY answers that things will go ok.

Lana, honestly do you believe my situation is going to be a problem or complicated after I file??? We have everything together and ready (= Since we're real, what would we face after we file that would be a problem???

Again, keep us in your prayers.
God Bless You All,
Jillian
Thank you for all of your advice and may God bles you all for that. Please keep my husband and I in your thoughts and prayers.
