What is the name of your state?

State is Wisconsin

It is only curiosity that drives this question since the outcome does not affect me one way or the other.

If the recipient of child support receives public assistance (probably not actual cash though) do they actually receive the entire amount of child support sent or is some of it withheld by the state to repay the assistance? Or are they sent the entire cs in addition to the assistance they receive?

In my state, and I think it's fairly universal, ONLY TANF (cash) benefits affect the amount of CS the state releases to you.

You can receive Medicaid, Food Stamps, Housing, Child Care, etc and not affect the CS amount. However, if receiving any of those benefits, CS IS counted as income (if paid). Also, CSE will automatically try to 1) establish or collect support and 2) establish an order for the NCP to provide health insurance.

It probably is universal, but maybe someone will post about a state that works diferently. (probably CA, they seem to have some really strange laws out there).

Michigan will enforce (or at least make an attempt to) if you are receiving any kind of government help, but as long as it's not TANF, won't touch the money.
