What is the name of your state? CA
My husbands ex has removed their 13 yr old dtr from school. She should complete 8th grade this June. Last year due to social (girl gossip) issues, the mother removed the dtr and put her in a charter home schooling program which failed. She finished the school year with 2F's 1D 2C's and an A in PE. She was written a letter of noncompliance due to missing assignments (teacher states in letter she feels student not getting enough supervision at home)and ultimately was given a recomendation to return back to reguar public school due to program noncompliance for missed mandatory apooinments and missing assignments. My husband has joint legal and has been told b the school district he has every say so regarding her education. The mother told him she is now putting the dtr in a "cyber school" however they have no computer. A school district official told us the mother is now filing an affidavit with the CA Dept of Educ. to privately home school the dtr. The mother has a criminal record( not sure about felonies but has several misdemeanor charges) and has 6 young childrenin the home. She barely graduated high school herself and is determined to have the dtr repeat 8th grade. We'd like more info on how a regular "joe blow" can get the ok to privately home school their child. If this does happen, which it looks like it will, the school district will nolonger have ny control over the dtr's education and enforcing educ. codes. The mother is currently under SARB for attendance for the dtr and is on probation for cot complying with the SARB contract for their 8yr old son. Prior failure in s home school program which WAS under a teacher's weekly supervion, SARB, probation. This woman has absolutely no regarding for the education system nor takes her childrens education seriously. We know what our options are, as there are current court orders in place which we feel she is violating by persisting with the home schooling. Father does NOT WANT home schooling. What is the significance of filing an affidavit and who monitors these students in these situations?
