What is the name of your state? IL
I gave up custody of my kids last April when I moved to Nevada. The case stays in Illinois. I changed jobs and did not pay support for 3 weeks. I took a severe pay cut. (Not by choice) The state of Nevada does not allow them to take more than 50% of my check. There were 3 weeks that my payment was shy ($10-$15) of the ordered amount. My ex's attorney is stating that I owe twice as much as I owe. Is there a way to find out what my arrearage is????? The county clerk states that the child support division is the way to go. They state the county clerk is the one who keeps track?????

I had attorney in Illinois but she decided to stay home and have kids. Now I am being told that hiring another attorney will cost me a large retainer fee.. I am not able to pay it so I am trying to do it on my own.

I don't mind paying the arrearage but not twice as much as I should...What is the name of your state?

In order to qualify for federal child support funds, each state must have a centralized unit to receive and distribute child support payments. Child support payments for both IV-D cases (current and former cash or medical assistance cases, as well as others who have requested child support services) and non-IV-D cases (those whose child support is handled privately, generally through private attorneys) are processed through this central unit.

Check with the child support collection unit and/or find out how to contact the central Unit , and ask for an audit print out .

Dude(or Dudette, whatever), we are talking less than $100 either way. Man up and stick a check for a hundred in the mail, cheapskate.

I won't even comment:rolleyes: on THIS part: "I gave up custody of my kids last April when I moved to Nevada."

As a matter of fact, we are talking $1,000 not 100. Otherwise I would be glad to "pay up".

As far as giving up custody, it is a long story that you would not even begin to want to know.

First, either Nevada has different math than the rest of the universe, or you're not telling the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth:rolleyes:, about your CS payments being "shy" $10-15 for 3 weeks. On earth:rolleyes:, that equals, at most, $45. Double that(again per your post) would equal $90.

As for the rest of the story, you didn't ask for advice on that.
