sever skin disorder from chemical poisoning
It began in spring of 2006. I referred to it as an allergic reaction
to I started on my a severly itchy rash shins. Being self-employed
and uninsured I have always been fortunate never have had any major
health problems. That summer I tried every over the coutner ointment
on the shelves. It itched so badly I scratched myself raw. I had that
rash through the winter. The next spring It spread all over my body to
the point tha I could not bear to wear cloths. Needless to say I could
not work, I was completely disabled. I had 2 options. I chose option
1 and went to the emergency room. I told the Dr. I was having an
allergic reation to something. He never examined me to know that it
was covered my entire body. I guess he just took my word for the
diagnosis. He sent the nurse to give me a shot of steroids and sent me
on m way. I got no relief at all. My neighbor is an R.N. She was
seriously concerned about my health. When she got off work she came to
see how I was doing after my ER visit. The first thing she said was
"they should have given you and I.V. She advised me to wait 24 hrs.
and go back to the ER. 6:30 a.m. I was back in the ER. Thank god is
was a different Dr. she immeidiately gave me an IV of steroids,
ordered blood work, got a second opinion from another Dr. She referred
me to a dermatologist. I came back home, oh my god some relief! Even
though it was just temporary I never had to use option 2. Long story
short Derm Dr.advised it had to be caused from something my body had
not been exposed to before, process of elimination. I had it narrowed
down to a brand of tooth paste or whatever type weed poison the
neighbor in 2006 sprayed on my property without my knowledge and 2007
the same neighbor, now an elected councilman, sprayed on the Citys
property that adjions my lot. The side effects of the steroids were as
unpleasant as the rash so I flipped flopped them. I went to the
council meeting and pleaded for someone to tell me what the name of
the poison was for no other reason than to tell the derm Dr. so he
could treat me for that particular chemical. Not one person said a
word. They just looked at each other, no response. A day or 2 later I
stoped the City street maintainace employ, I told he about the council
meeting. He told me that no one could answer my question because only
one person knew the answer. The nasty neighbor.
If it had not been for a neighbor on the other side of me calling the
EPA and asking for an investigation I am sure I would be not be alive
today. It took 9 months for the EPA report to get back to us but when
it did my copy included a note with information as to what effect that
particular chamical has on humans, What I had been describing as an
allergic reaction what refered to as a severe skin disorder. The EPA
regulations are so stringent in the U.S. that the information about
this chemical came from reports from Mexico. The U. S. sprays this
chemical from crop dusting planes to eradicate whatever plant that
produces an illegal drug smuggled into the U.S. They came down hard on
my City. Needless to say there has been no more spraying of chemical
in the creek that adjions my property. Since late May of 2007 my
severe skin disorder cleared up on its own I can wear my clothes fit
and I can wear anything I want all day long. I am back to work. I have
a 3 yr, back long of clients. And a personal message from the Iowa
EPA director with some web links with information about the chemical
telling me if I needed any thing at all I could call him any time. The
damages I have suffered physically, financially and emotionally can
never be recovered. I am however physically able to defend myself
from the intentional negligence of this nasty neighbor/councilman. I
need to know what legal process I have to take to get a civil court
case reviewed now that I can defend myself.
thank you so much for responding,
