Is a Bill of Sale a legal document?

I have a car I would like to sell and I have a buyer who is very interested. The car is currently on lease but the lease expires next week. My question is: If I sell this car to the buyer, will the Bill of Sale be a legal document that can make him feel at ease about purchasing the car and waiting for me to send him the title once I receive it from the lease company? It may take a couple of weeks to get the title. I plan on hand delivering the title to him once I have signed it.
