What is the name of your state? Missouri. I moved into a new apt. in the same complex of 3 years and after living in the new apt. for a few months I started having issues with my asthma, thinking there was something wrong with apt. I asked them to come in and check for mold (one of my triggers) because there are areas on the ceiling that suggest that there was once water, they did and the said there was non. The service guy left a slip behind saying they were in the apt. which I don't have any longer. I am coming up on 10 months in this apt. and I know there is black mold in the ceiling. Could this be terms of contract termination. I have recently bought a new home and would like to leave early. in the contract it states we can leave by entering a buyout agreement, witch implies we pay a penalty of next months rent plus 2 months and forfeit the deposit. I would like to not have to pay that, but come to an agreement with the landlord since there is mold and I have asked them to fix it, and theres not but 2 moths rent left on the lease. I didn't want to fight it, I just lived with it and don't know why. I have until march 1st to decide weather or not to enter the buyout agreement and pay the penalty. If you have any suggestion on what I should do, it would be much appreciated. Thanks!
