What is the name of your state? California

In short,
I was approached by a Los Angeles community member who stated he has a message from his neighbors for me , " that HE is a City Employee (with the DOT) and if I continue to report the illegal vehicle activities of his neighbors he can use his "insider information" to find out and he and his neighbors will make trouble for my family ."

This was done : within 500 feet of my daughters LAUSD school at dismissal time,
: On a day when two of his neighbors cars were towed for the 72 hours abandon vehicle ORD. (they essentially use them like storage lockers so it had been over a week actually !)

Civil charges or approach the City >
Or better ?
Thanks

Tell the city.

Thank you.
I bet I can expect the run around.
The only on-line complaint form I could find was for employee against employee for confidentiality.
I heard today that he similarly threatened a direct neighbor with his "position" when he put in a block wall that damaged his neighbors property. Same "I work for the City blah blah"
Maybe that guy filed a complaint too.
Two strikes might help.

Thanks again

The DOT is both Federal and state, but it is not a city-level government organization, to my knowledge.

This makes no sense.

update...told the city about their creeepy employee and they are "investigating"

question 1:
How long do I give them to "investigate " ?

update...
Two more of the vehicles of these people that are friends with the same city employee have been ticketed so they left a note on MY car saying they are going to make a poster with our address etc... on it and put them out to declare we are calling for enforcement in the area that is why they are getting tickets.

ie telling the neighborhood through public postings that if they ever again get a ticket on this street it is our fault.
BTW reminder, we have not called for enforcement clearly someone is pointing the finger at us. This city employee cann not possibly have any insider info on us ,therefore.
His neighbors are gullible idiots.
BTW too we have been ticketed etc. as well.

please advise .

I suggest you contact your local television station and/or newspaper. Many television stations have "call for action" or similarly named teams of reporters, who help resolve viewers' ongoing problems with the city or area businesses. And a newspaper is likely to find this story interesting, and send a reporter to investigate, as well.

It is amazing how quickly some problems can get resolved once the media starts to focus attention on them. ;)

Here , the full "acronym" if you will is LADOT (Los Angeles Department Of Transportation.)
They will do traffic control for accidents etc.....as well as citations for vehicle violations. Just not moving violations.

We also have sherrif who handle those crazy county boundry issues when it is not city jurisdiction. But this joker works for public works dept. of LACity Street Services actually.
He'd have to be one magic man high in the ranks to hack the DOT computer system or have time to chat up DOT employees on work time to find out ANYTHING.
But if he has been tryin to, YAY we have a lawsuit and then some cause he has got nothing on us no matter what he says. Do I hear a slander suit. ?
I think once these other neighbors realize they have been played they will cooperate.
(wishful thinking,,,,they just aren't that smart no matter what. ) sigh.
Cross your fingers and toes.

Yes, however the city is doing there thing by enforcing ,but instead of complying with the law these jokers threaten us that if they get another ticket they will publically post accusations that are just ridiculous yet I see it is an attempt to terrorize us with a threat of a false accusation.

I think I am sounding ridiculous that I even care ?
Should I be worried ??
Should I have a lawyer send them a cease demand etc... letter on that nice lawyer letter head ???

Well, since the city is doing their "thing" adequately, give them more time to investigate the city employee. When you get tired of waiting for their investigation to be complete, contact a lawyer. The attorney can draft a cease and desist if he/she sees that as a solution.

(by the way, none of this sounds like defamation)

Yeah. How could publicizing that we report illegal activity be defamatory. We have a great big neighborhood watch sign 'round the corner to go with our neighborhood watch group , that says just that.

thanks again and again
