I am in CA - I have just gotten my green card via work about a month ago. I've been looking for consulting work non-stop in past month, my employer does not look for work for me, I do my own marketing & search work myself.

I do not wish to be penalized by the immigration officer 5 yrs from now upon my citizenship application. Can I prove that my job offer was genuine to begin with, and that proof of my current search efforts documented throughout the past month, can I part with my employer now? I intend to stay in doing same line of work going forward.

Pls let me know, thx

Can I leave my employer now ?

You can leave your employer now that you have a green card.
Hi Lana - I have been with this employer since Aug 2004 so my job offer as submitted to filing PERM was indeed meritorious, I have been working there! I wish to leave now after receiving my green card in order to pursue better career choices but at same time I want to address this issue prudently in case 5 yrs from now my naturalization request will be challenged or even denied?

Could you pls elaborate? I greatly appreciate it :)
