In December of Last Year I Bumped Into A Friends Car (He Was Over 18 so Was I) While It Was Parked In His Driveway (The Car Was Actually Owned By His Mother At This Point, The Car Was In Her Name, And UnInsured) We Agreed That I Would In Exchange Give Him A Laptop To Make Up For It, (His Mother Did Not Know About The Damages As She Did Not Live With Him, And To This Day Does Not Know About The Damages) After Talking With Friends And Family I Had Been Convinced That My Friend Was Not Out Any Money At All So Why Was I Giving Him Anything. Since Then He Has Bought The Car From His Mother And Has Not Informed Me That He Is Getting Estimates For The Damages. I Am Not Trying To Get Away With Anything, I Am Just Curious as To What I Should Do, Should A Claim Be Filed With My Insurance Company, Should I Talk With His Mother About This (Since She Owned The Car).

I Really Do Not Know Where To Start With This, Does He Even Have Legal Claim With Me or Does His Mother, Can A Claim Even Be Filed With My Insurance Company This Long After The Incident?

Yes, you can report it to your insurance company. However I'm not sure your friend can recover money for an incident that happened before he owned the car. The owner of the car at THAT time would be the one entitled to the money. I don't know where the laptop came into it. You damage a car, you pay to get it fixed.

Of course he can't. He wasn't the owner.

Exactly. You owe nothing to your friend.
