What is the name of your state? Louisiana
I live in the state of Mississippi but my employer is in Louisiana. They are a small private company that provides paramedics to the offshore oil and gas industry.
I had obtained information that my employer may have an opening (which would be a promotion for me) and I spoke with my Operation's Manager about it. He stated that it was "in the works" and would let me know once it was open.
I returned to work today, only to receive an email from a co-worker, that the position had been offered to him and he had accepted.
The position was never posted and I wasn't given an equal opportunity to compete for this position, even though I am well qualified and properly trained for the job.
This has been a frequent practice from my employer as they are in the process of opening another office and have already offered someone the job of Operations Manager without even posting it or giving anyone the opportunity to apply.
Is there anything I can do about this?
