My license has recently been suspended for the next 12 months due to a D.U.I. (alcohol). I live more than 10 miles from my job Full time / 2nd Shift and taxi services just to get home in the evenings will cost $250/wk. I am researching alternate modes of transportation. Marta or public transportation is not available.
Under Georgia State Law to my understanding, a Moped is classified as a bicicle if it meets a list of requirements such as: 2 hp or less single gear motor, proper lights/turn signals, pedals to allow muscular propulsion, etc.
A moped does not require a tag, insurance, etc. The sales representative for the bike has nearly convinced me a drivers license is not required.
Georgia State Law 40-11-28 does not clarify whether or not this is true. Is anyone familiar with the specifics with driving a Moped?
Thanks in Advance,
Chris
