What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? CA

Just thought about this now in the case of Hans Reiser who must be the wealthiest hands on murder of the modern era. The dude, I'm not sure if this was spur of the moment or planned-I'll read about on it more later, showed where he buried his wife's body after maintaining his innocence for his whole trial and after the guilty verdict, afterwards. He is due for sentencing today or this week but is only facing 25 years to life. Which brings me to my question. Why aren't 1st degree murder cases all life or death sentences or perhaos this isn't first degree? If I had my way which is why I wouldn't be elected president, murder sentences would be based on the average person's life expectancy. Say it was 78 for a man. If someone murdered an 18 year old, they'd have to serve 78-18= 68 years, no parole. If someone murdered a 68 year old man, they'd only do 10 years. There would be a 5 year minimum sentence if someone murdered a 74 year old man or older. If someone murdered more than 1 person at the same time, the other people's dead stats would be included too. I realize that this wouldn't fly though in the US.

PS, Why don't they add perjury charges to Hans?

Not only is your post depressingly stupid, you can't even perform second grade math. 78-18= 60... not 68, rocket scientist.

BTW, the US President doesn't decide what sentences are handed down for murder cases. State legislatures do, since murder cases are normally state charges with rare exceptions.
