My father abandoned my family when I was a young child. I'm an adult now, and I'm wondering if I can sue him for emotional damage, etc. for that abandonment?

Honestly, you can sue for anything nowadays.

Will you win anything? I sincerely doubt it.

They eventually got divorced years later, and I guess he paid some child support at some point, but not for many years. Anyway, I'm not talking about back support, which would be owed to my mother anyway, not me. I'm talking about the psychological pain and the lost influence of a father for 15 formative years.

So, I guess I could sue, the question is, is a lawyer going to accept the case?

How is money going to fix the problem? Or, are you just looking for a pay check or to get even?

Move on.
