What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Missouri

Here is an odd question. I inherited a house that was owned by a relative. That is the good news, the bad news is: there is a tenant living there with a "swinging reversionary" right to live in the house (without paying any rent on my house where she is laving and getting rent on the other two homes that she does own).

The house was built in the mid 60's and was overbuilt to code by a very good general contractor. Sometime in the last 10 or 15 years, my relative apparently added a bathroom in the basement. When I went to the county seat, I could not find any permit(s) for the bathroom and the assessor only lists the 2 original bathrooms.

Would I be allowed to evict the tenant to remove the bathroom so that the house would comply with the current code(s). I may seem to be a little vindictive, but given all of the stuff this woman stole, I am certainly entitled.

Thanks!

Mike

Are you saying someone made a written contract with this woman to live in the house rent free until she dies?

**A: is there a life estate in favor of this tenant?

It looks like a life estate, but she is required to pay taxes, insurance and keep the home repaired and current with Zoning rules. Since she put in a non-per,miotted bathroom, can we evict her, both for not following the terms of the will and also for creating "waste" as she is actually hurting the property.

Thanks!

**A: what do you mean "it looks like?" Ge the official document and read it.
